WHAT: Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp –  campers with muscular dystrophy ages 6-17 attend a week-long camp for activities such as swimming, sports, arts and crafts, and many more.  All campers are paired one-on-one with a volunteer camp counselor.

WHEN: Saturday, July 3 – Friday, July 9th

WHERE: Bradford Woods, State Road 67 North, Martinsville, Indiana

Who volunteers at MDA Summer Camp? – MDA looks for volunteers that have a strong desire to give of themselves and who want to give campers the best week of their summer! Volunteers act as “buddies” to the campers and help the campers get around the facility so that they may participate in activities.  Volunteers may be called upon to push wheelchairs and assist with bathroom duties, dressing and feeding.  Some campers just need help getting around, others require total care and use power wheelchairs.  Volunteers will be paired with a camper they feel comfortable caring for and will receive training on how to be a volunteer prior to the camp week (Volunteer Training is Saturday, June 19th at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis).

For more information or to receive a volunteer application, contact amills@mdausa.org with your name, address, and phone number.
