firefly is an easy-to-use tool for people who have the cognitive ability but not the literacy skills to read text. Users can upload content to the app and it will be read aloud to them.
Users simply select a word on the screen and select the green “play” button at the top of the page. The app starts reading from the word selected and will stop reading whenever you push the “pause” button at the top of the page.
firefly has a voiceover option to read one line of text at a time. It will read a single line of text and stop at the end of the line. Then, the user can select the first word of the next line of text and select the “play” button and it will read that line of text. This feature is helpful for users who need a little extra time to comprehend and understand the words that are being read aloud.
Users can also change the voice to different English accents as well as a Spanish voice if you have Spanish text to read. You can also adjust the reading speed to be faster or slower to match the preference of the reader.
