Veterans and Agriculture: Opportunities for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Enrichment at the Beck Agricultural Center at Purdue University.

November 7-8 is the Veterans and Agriculture: Opportunities for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Enrichment at the Beck Agricultural Center at Purdue University.

The Veterans and Agriculture workshop aims to help veterans with tips regarding agriculture and steps to successfully start and run a farm and an agribusiness venture. In addition, the workshop provides information on how to farm with a disability. The workshop also assists professionals who work with veterans and how to help them better understand the needs of their clients.

The first day of the workshop will be instruction based. Topics such as funding agricultural operations, marketing and agritourism, working with the VA and state Vocational Rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury and PTSD, assistive technology for farmers with disabilities and many more will be discussed and covered.

The second day will be more hands on and interactive. First hand experience at Purdue farms will be offered. Sessions discussing livestock management, aquaculture, agronomoy basics, and tours of local sustainable farms and livestock facilities will occur.

Registration fees are waived for veterans not attending as representatives of organizations. Veterans may also call 800-825-4264 for more information about the availability of travel expenses and stipends.
