Show Notes

Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

In the New Year, many are thinking about health, wellness and other resolutions to make a positive change.  For people with disabilities, access to a gym, exercise equipment and the services that go along with a traditional gym membership might be inaccessible.  The National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability seeks to eliminate some of those barriers.  Funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control the NCHPAD web site offers lots of resources including articles on accessible fitness, a resource directory of trainers, programs and facilities that focus on people with disabilities.  Check our show notes for a link to that web site.
