Show Notes

Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Started in 1974 by Jean Kennedy Smith, VSA was originally known as Very Special Arts.  The purpose of VSA is “to provide arts and education opportunities for people with disabilities” and to “promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the arts, education and culture around the world.”

With affiliates throughout the United States, VSA creates many program and opportunities to encourage people with disabilities to paint, sculpt, act, learn and enjoy other artistic endeavors.

Some famous VSA artists have included Dale Chihuly, Mark Di Suvero and Marlee Matlin.
