Speech Buddies is for people who are in speech therapy. It’s a piece of assistive technology for new people in therapy, resistant to therapy, or in group therapy. It’s designed to complement current practice and can help people overcome the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis.
Oral motor methods focus mainly on training muscle strength during non-speech exercises. The difference with Speech Buddies is that it works by providing targets and tactile feedback inside your mouth while you are actually speaking. These were designed by a team or speech-language pathologists and engineers to target the five hardest to treat problem sounds – R, S, L, CH, and SH.
Supported by clinical trials, this assistive technology device trains correct tongue placement during active speech. It’s easy to learn in only a matter of minutes. Online resources are available to let you practice using Speech Buddies at home.
