219-1-20-2017 Blindfold Greeting Card app

Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

I’ve mentioned apps by Blindfold before on our blog, which are all “designed for rapid audio play and have been built with the help of dozens of visually impaired gamers.” One of their more recent releases is the Blindfold Greeting Card app. Their Greeting Card app is a “fully accessible e-card app for sending audio cards to your friends and family.”

Developer Marty Schultz from Blindfold Games discusses purpose behind the app: “I envisioned the app to appeal to several groups. For the blindness community, it would let them send an audio ecard to someone, and let the recipient appreciate the card the same way as the blind person who created it…”

To create and send an ecard, first select the sound effect. Next, you can record your voice greeting. Once you’re satisfied with card, you can send it via any social network, email, or as a text message.

Check it out on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blindfold-greeting-card/id1137764325?mt=8 or visit BlindfoldGames.Org.
