Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
BreatheWell Wear is an app for Android Wear smartwatches. According to the app’s description, it is designed to “help individuals with mild traumatic brain injury (mBTI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in managing stress through diaphragmatic breathing.”
In other words, the app assists users in performing slow, deep breathing by providing auditory and visual guidance to pace breathing. It also includes a display of the user’s heart rate in real-time.
Other features of the BreatheWell Wear App include:
- Users have the option to listen to calming sounds and music, or they can select a favorite song from their music library
- The app also allows users to program reminders to practice during periods of low stress “to help them perform the breathing technique effectively during periods of high stress”
- And much more!
