Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
Looking for a wheelchair to help you go on outdoor adventures in? Check out the AdvenChair! The AdvenChair is “an all-terrain, human-powered vehicle that allows people with mobility challenges to experience the serenity and grandeur of wild places with family and friends.”
It is designed for those with limited arm and upper body strength to be pushed and pulled by one or more people. With its adjustable handlebars and hand brakes, a team of one to five individuals can help maneuver the chair through different terrains.
Features of the AdvenChair:
- Human propelled wheelchair for all terrain types
- Weighs 55 pounds in wheelchair mode, or 60 pounds with all three wheels on
- Easily transform it from wheelchair mode to all-terrain mode by adding the 20-inch front wheel with shock absorber
- Frame width is 31 inches in wheelchair mode so the chair easily fits through doors
It will become available to purchase late spring/early 2020.
