Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools, and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing, or other special needs!
If you’re looking for a new augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app, check out App2Speak. App2Speak is an AAC app that gives a voice to individuals who are unable to speak and/or have difficulty communicating.
The app was developed by an experienced American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech Language Pathologist and is compatible with most smart mobile devices. Users will be able to communicate with others by simply touching a photo. App2Speak features preprogrammed phrases for everyday needs, but users can also create custom phrases with their own photos.
Other features include:
- Create your own text-to-speech page with the option to save text-to-speech history of common words and phrases
- 4 pre-programmed pages of photos, words, and speech output for immediate communication
- 2 size options for pictures
- Option for male or female voice
- Ability to adjust speech rate
- Lock/unlock edit button
- Ability to personally record voice
- And more
Check it out on the App Store to learn more
