Alvin Alviar
Alvin is the ReUse Lead in our Equipment Reutilization Program. Alvin has a computer science degree from the Univesity of the Phillippines and is fluent in five computer languages. When he and his wife relocated to Indiana, he took care of most of the domestic home front while his kids were young. During that time, he started volunteering in the INDATA Depot over 17 years ago. Once his kids were older, he began his employment within that department. He fell in love with what the program does and wanted to be a part of the life-changing services they offer. (Alvin remains in awe of technology advances, especially with the advent of artificial intelligence; he is excited to see what it offers people with disabilities in our future.) Alvin then worked as a lead support specialist in the Easterseals Crossroads IT department, but his passion for the reutilization program has brought him back as a ReUse lead. In his spare time, Alvin loves working in his yard and converting it to a wildlife-friendly habitat. He loves playing sports and misses the years where he could watch his kids play. He is serious with his faith, and he loves to travel. He has realized that it is the people with whom he is around ― rather than any destination ― that truly matters more when he travels. On a daily basis, it gives Alvin great satisfaction to see how all of us provide the highest level of service to the community we serve. It is always his hope that technology enhances all of our jobs; he strives fervently to make certain that technology is never a hindrance in achieving any of our goals.
