196-08-12-16 Reveal: Empowered Care for Autism
Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
A new wearable named Reveal is estimated to begin shipping May 2017. It is designed to measure and track anxiety to help you better understand behavior and prevent future meltdowns. It is a wearable specifically designed for individuals with autism, but it can also benefit individuals with PTSD, generalized anxiety disorders, people with dementia, and much more.
The Reveal’s design has been in the making for years, and after collaborating with hundreds of parents, caregivers, and care experts, they have carefully crafted the final product. Reveal’s final design includes:
– Smooth surface: for limited fidgeting
– Adjustable clasp: for the perfect fit
– Comfortable strap: for use during activity
– Durable material: which is waterproof and shockproof, “because life happens.”
Reveal uses state-of-the-art sensors combined with an advanced algorithm to measure and track physiological signals. It notifies parents, caregivers, therapists, and teachers, about changes in physiological signals, so they know if a meltdown is about to occur.
