238-06-09-17 Apple’s HomePod
Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
Apple is finally joining Amazon and Google with their own version of the in-home assistant. The tech giant’s newest addition, coined HomePod, “combines Apple-engineered audio technology and advanced software to deliver the highest-fidelity sound throughout the room, no matter where it’s placed.”
HomePod senses the room its placed in and will balance its volume accordingly. If you want to change the music, simply say, “Hey Siri, play next song” or “Hey Siri, play Taylor Swift”. In addition to playing your favorite music, Siri can also answer general questions, adjust smart home devices, read news, check weather, and much, much more – all entirely hands-free.
HomePod will be available this December. Visit Apple.com to learn more. https://www.apple.com/homepod/
