What: A sensory friendly live performance of Honk! the musical adaptation of the Hans Chrisitian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling presented by The Children Youth Theater of Indianapolis.
When: Saturday, November13 at 10 am.
Where: Grace Community Church in Noblesville, IN.
Who Should Attend: Sensory friendly films and live performances are specifically designed for people who have autism or other disabilities who are particularly sensitive to bright lights, prolonged periods of darkness, loud noises, and other sensory input. Sensory friendly entertainment provides an opportunity for families who are affected by autism to enjoy their favorite movies and performances in a safe and accepting environment.
This is the first live performance by the Christian Youth Theater that is sensory friendly. In addition to the play, children will be able to enjoy an atmosphere where they can feel free to be themselves and be comfortable in an unfamiliar environment. There will be pillows and bean bags provided for children who may find it difficult or uncomfortable to stay seated for too long, as well as a separate quiet room equipped with sensory toys if the action of the play becomes too overwhelming. In addition, children will be given “Sensory Participation Bags” which includes items such as feathers and bubbles so they can become part of the action of the play!
