Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
If you’re looking for an app to help scan text, currency, barcodes, and even your surroundings, check out Supersense. According to its website, Supersense is the “smartest and simplest scanner application” available for individuals with visual impairments.
Supersense utilizes a unique artificial intelligence technology and a “super user-friendly interface” to make it as accessible as possible for users with visual impairments. By utilizing AI, the app “automatically figures out what you are trying to scan, guides you on how to point the camera, and reads the content in the right format.”
Other features include:
- Smart Scanner feature allows the app to quickly detect a piece of text, a document, currency, or a barcode
- Smart Guidance feature guides users on how to point the camera and finds the best angles for the most accurate results
- Object Explorer and Find feature scans the user’s physical environment and tells them about the objects surrounding them
- And so much more!
Check it out on the App Store or Google Play to learn more!
