Imagine if life were like a foreign film — with subtitles popping up in front of your eyes whenever people speak. Now available through INDATA’s Lending Library, the Hearview Subtitle Glasses make this idea a reality.
Designed for the deaf and hard of hearing community, the glasses pair with the user’s smartphone to capture people’s voices, and then AI technology transcribes their words in real time. For two-way conversations, users can type within the Hearview app, which converts their text into speech to create a natural face-to-face dialogue. The Hearview system can process 30-plus languages, displaying translated text and delivering responses in the recipient’s native tongue.
Hearview also keeps the communication process smooth and seamless through the product’s compatibility with prescription lenses.
The glasses not only enhance communication, but they also alert users to critical sounds, such as:
- Emergency alarms
- Car horns
- Dogs barking
- Knocking
- Doorbells
- Baby crying
- Gunshots
The glasses also notify users of incoming calls, text messages, calendar reminders, etc.
Hearview provides live subtitles beyond in-person conversations as well. “Whether it’s a social media clip, a news broadcast or any other media, users can instantly generate subtitles for better accessibility and comprehension,” the website states.
